Rescued Birds

A couple of weeks ago, the boys and I went to a presentation about rescued raptors.  It was at our local library.  It was very interesting and we were able to see a rescued kestrel, a great horned owl that was taken as a baby and raised by some people who weren't supposed to have it and then couldn't be released into the wild, and a rescued white- tailed kite. The raptors were fascinating to watch!  At the end of the presentation, one of the volunteers brought out Sir Lance the rooster...so that the kids could actually touch a bird (since they weren't to touch the raptors, for obvious reasons)!  The boys loved this and it was perfect timing, since we got our chickens the following Saturday.  Thankfully, all we have are hens...and NO roosters!

NOTE:  The pictures aren't great because I didn't have the foresight to bring my good camera and had to settle for using my phone.  And Joshua is the one in the foreground reaching to pet Sir Lance.

How do you like your local library out there? Is it a good library system or a city library that's on its own or who cares?
Grammy needs to get a life outside of work! :)

We really like our local library. Everybody is very nice and helpful. We are part of a county system. :)
