Funny Pics

Here are a couple of funny pictures of Micah that I have been meaning to post. Last week, before I gave Micah a haircut, we decided to give him a Mohawk in the bathtub! Fun times! Now his hair is much shorter, except in the very back, because he WILL NOT let me finish cutting it. It doesn't look horrible, but it is a bit thicker in the back than I would prefer. :) The other is of one of his classic funny faces that he gives when he is in a silly mood and I try to take his picture!

Snow Play

Pardon the pictures, but I had to post them all! We all had such a good time outside today. The boys and I played, Joshua rode his bike, Micah pushed his push-toy. Then later, Joshua and I went on a hike to the park and had a great time making snow angels. Then late this afternoon, we all went (including Neil) to sled - at least our version of it - on the hill behind our house. What fun! We have some video of that, which I will work on posting sometime this weekend! Joshua finished off the afternoon with a nice mug full of hot chocolate! YUM!

Bundling Up

Here are a couple of pics of the boys and I, one taken right before we went outside, and then one taken on our front porch. Since this afternoon, when this was taken, we've probably gotten another 1-2 inches of snow. I'm looking forward to playing in it with them tomorrow!

Cabin Fever

We don't have it yet, but cabin fever is fast approaching. I do not know how people survive that live up north. It has either been sleeting, snowing, or raining down frozen rain since yesterday. Thankfully, we haven't had much build up on the trees and power lines yet. The boys and I got out several times to play in the snowy mixture and really enjoyed it. But the cold and dreary weather begin to set in and I wish for sunshine and warmer days. The boys have done relatively well, but we can only play cars, color, run around playing chase, and so on for so long before it all gets old. Oh well. I will count my blessings and pray for creativity and an extra dose of patience. :)

Funny Story

It was cold and yucky out today, so the boys and I spent all day inside, with the exception of piling into the car so that I could go fill the gas tank - just in case - since we're expecting ice! So, we pulled out some fun Cd's and listened, danced, and sang to music much of the day. One song that stuck with Joshua was "Apples and Bananas". If you aren't familiar with the song, it starts out "I like to eat apples and bananas..." and with each verse you change out the vowels to either a, e, i, o, or u. He loved it and would die laughing when we got to the i, o, or u! We sang that song off and on together and had a great time! What a blessing to enjoy him and to be enjoyed!

Outdoors Fun

The title of this post is deceptive in the fact that it suggests that we were outside for awhile. We weren't. :) Yesterday, I asked Joshua if he wanted to bundle up and go for a walk. He responded with an emphatic yes, so off we went. We didn't make if very far before he decided that it was too cold to play outside and wanted to go back in and play cars. I did manage to snap this picture before we went in. It was still fun, even if it only lasted 5 minutes!

Fun with cars and more...

The boys have been having as much fun as possible playing indoors, which is good since it has been cold outside. Joshua has been playing with his race cars and Micah has been into Diego, even wanting to put on Joshua's costume shirt from a couple of years ago. :) What fun boys!

Still in our Jammies

Well, today has been one of those days. I don't think the boys and I have gotten out of our pajamas all day long. :) Neil is sick and so we stayed close to home to help him out. Also, another cold front has been moving through and it has been extremely windy and cold! We've just had a cozy day at home and even enjoyed breakfast for dinner. Perfect!

New Videos!

I just uploaded a few new videos of the boys. I haven't really taken many pictures or video during the past couple of weeks, so these are from awhile back. There is one of Micah at the aquarium, one of Joshua playing, and one taken at the Sam Noble Science Museum, which we went to a few weeks ago. :) Enjoy!

Taste the Canoe :)

You've probably never tasted a canoe, at least not on purpose. Micah can successfully say that HE has...but since he can't really communicate what it tasted like, I guess we'll never know! :) What a funny boy. I don't know what was so yummy about the old canoe, but I had to share the picture! He had a great time and felt all grown up because he could get in and out of the canoe, all by himself!

Playing in Grandpa's Garden

Last week, we spent a couple of days with my parents while Neil was at his national sales meeting. While there, the boys loved digging and playing in the dirt in my dad's garden. We also went on a "canoe trip" in the old canoe and even went "fishing". It was fun to be there!

Joshua

One day a few weeks ago, as we were getting ready for church, I tried to get some pictures of Neil and the boys. I didn't get many good shots at all. But I did like this one of Joshua. I should know better than to try to do anything extra before church. It's always a crazy time, even if we are running ahead of schedule. :) Enjoy!

Heavy Reading

I have to share a couple of funny moments about Micah. He loves books as much or more than Joshua did at this age. In the picture above, he had become attached to a book of Neil's, Ender's Game, which is pretty heavy reading. There was something fascinating about that book and he would carry it around all day long, looking for fun places to put his feet up and "read". :)
The other picture is of a more common occurrence, of Micah piling books into his rocking chair and then wanting me to put him up there so that he can look at his books. This is where we read him his bed time books, as we did with Joshua. It is a very special rocking chair, given to us by some good friends who were in our wedding. He can now climb into the chair by himself, which is fun for him! I just have to pay extra attention, that he doesn't decide to stand up and leap out! :)

Chalk Play

On a random warm day a couple of weeks ago, the boys had fun playing with chalk in the dog water dish. Joshua thinks it is cool to get the chalk wet and then to draw with it! Micah joined in on the fun, at least until he decided to try and eat some. Notice in the top picture all of the chalk marks on his face and around his mouth. :) Fun times!

What a beautiful day!

After several cold days, it finally warmed up enough to get out and play for awhile. The boys had a great time, and I even had a chance to pull out my camera. I was very pleased with the results! What fun, handsome boys I have been blessed with! We've had a busy week, which is the reason I haven't had a chance to post. Today, Micah is 16 months old! I can hardly believe that so much time has passed since he was born. Also this morning, Micah had a check up and some of his shots. He was a trooper and didn't even cry. He just stared at the nurse, trying to figure out what had just happened. :) The boys are asleep (I hope), so I'm off to work on miscellaneous "stuff". Have a great night! By the way, we still have leaves because we never raked them in the first place, AND it seems that every leaf in the neighborhood ends up in our yard! :)

Remembering the Past, Anticipating the Future...

We've had our ups and downs this year, definitely. But, all in all, I would say it has been a good year. The picture above is of the boys last December. The picture below was taken at my parents house this Christmas. The boys have grown up so much in the past year! What a blessing they have been! I'm looking forward to the coming year with them. Happy 2009!
