The Couch Cushions

Pulling the cushions off of the couch and then hiding in them and jumping on them has become one of the boys favorite indoor games. On this particular day, Joshua was taking one of his rare naps and Micah took full advantage of playing in the cushions by himself. :)

Nothing New

I haven't picked up the camera much during the past couple of weeks...so no new fun pics of the boys. Micah is talking up a storm and as each day passes we understand more and more of what he is saying. Joshua seems to have gotten even taller. We were getting the boys ready for bed the other day and I realized that Joshua's pajama pants were at least 3 inches up from the floor. When did he grow???

Face stamping

We were stamping yesterday with some fun new letter stamps when Micah suddenly was inspired to try and stamp his face. :) Joshua had to imitate. I don't know if you can see it well or not, but Joshua has brown ink on his forhead and nose, and Micah has orange ink on the entire left side of his face as well as all over his hand. It was pretty funny to watch. :)

Updated playlist and thoughts of my boys!

I finally updated my playlist! And I just have to say that I love my boys (husband included). Neil had to be gone this evening, so the boys and I played in the sprinkler outside, got ready for bed and read lots of books! Good times!

A New Bike

While Grammy and Papa were here, Joshua had the fun privilege of going to pick out a new bike with them! Here is what he chose! He's doing a great job on it, but it will take some practice and bigger muscles to ride it like he was riding his smaller bike. I'm proud of him. He could still ride his small bike, but he chooses the new one, even though it takes more effort at this point to ride it. He is so excited about his new big bike. And, as a bonus, Micah will get to start learning how to ride on his brother's old bike. He's got an inch to grow, though, before he'll really be able to start riding. His feet barely reach the pedals! :)

Books to be challenged by

It's late and I just finished reading The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews. It was an excellent book and I am very challenged by it. I re-read, actually listened to, Wild at Heart by John Eldredge a couple of weeks ago. And before that, I FINALLY read The Shack, which is an incredibly well-written book that changed and is still changing how I think of God. I would recommend all of these books! Maybe I will comment more later, but for now, I've got to get to bed! Tomorrow will be the morning that the boys wake up at 6 a.m. Ha ha! :)

Why, Momma?

This is a question that I would expect from my 4 year old, but NOT from my 1 year old...at least not yet! :) To give him credit, he is nearly two. Still, I can't even tell you how many times Micah has asked, "Why, Momma?", during the past few days. I know that he is partly mimicking his older brother. But he understands what he is asking!

Me: Don't spit your milk out.
Micah: Why, Momma?

Me: Put your blocks away.
Micah: Why, Momma?

Me: Take the rocks out of your mouth.
Micah: Why, Momma?

You get the idea. :) It's slightly humorous to me. I guess that I just wasn't expecting this challenge so soon. Oh, the joys of parenthood...

Snow cones!

We weren't able to make the birthday party of one of Joshua's good friends, Luke. So, instead, we treated him and his brother to snow cones! The boys all had a great time!

Joshua caught his first snake!

August 1st is a day to remember, at least for Joshua! He caught his first snake in the backyard on Saturday morning. He was bubbling over with excitement over his catch and talked about it all day. For those of you who do not like snakes (and I'm not saying that I'm a big fan of them), it was a very small "underground" snake which likes to eat bugs that live underground. Hmmm...Joshua must have been digging in the dirt! :) That's no surprise. We kept it for the morning and then he let it go. Fun times, at least for him. I have to admit, when he first showed it to me, I thought it was one of his small fake ones. Then I jumped a bit when it actually moved. :)

Times Past

The last time my parents came to visit, my mom had goody bags for the boys with fun things like goofy glasses and slinkys. They and their cousins had loads of fun! I loved those heart glasses. :) I have several things to post but have been absorbed in other things...like preparing for family to visit! Yeah!!! We can't wait for everyone to get here this week!

Note: I truly am very excited to have our family in this weekend (just in case the way it was written left something to question)!
