The Perfect Rock

We met my parents for a picnic lunch last weekend at a really nice lake/state park in OK. The boys romped around at the waters edge. Joshua had taken some of his cars and played with them on the rocks and logs. Micah spent his time trying to throw big rocks into the water. He would hunt around until he found a rock almost to big to pick up. Then he would heave it up and toss it in the lake! It was fun to watch him...and make sure that he didn't accidentally go into the lake along with the rock. :)

Look...no training wheels!!

We took the training wheels off this past weekend. He's been ready for awhile and had even been riding with the training wheels pushed up out of the way! Joshua is doing a great job! During the course of the year, he has worn out a pair of training wheels and was on his second pair. Also, he has ridden so much that he finally wore the tread down on his back tire and busted a hole through the tire and the inner tube, which had to be replaced! I'm very proud of my big boy! He might even save up to get a bigger bike. :)

Climbing the fence and other adventures

Oh boy. My oldest is now starting to climb fences. He actually did this at our last house, but it was a little chain link fence. Now we have a tall fence. I remember being seven or eight years old and trying to keep up with my brother as he and his friends played tag. I often would have to climb over our tall fence...I can't believe that my firstborn son will be able to do that sooner than I want him to! :) I'm sure that Micah won't be far behind. He's already trying to through things over the fence and has succeeded more than once! The up close pic of Joshua is actually a rare treat. He almost never shows off for the camera! I got several hilarious pics of him and will take all that I can get! By the way, Micah can climb up on that black tub all by himself. He was up there saying "Cheese" and having a grand time!

Rain, Rain, Go Away...

Come again some other day. Actually, we appreciate the rain, and the puddles it leaves behind. But after awhile it gets old. Please God, send the rain to places that NEED it! We tried to get out this morning to stomp in puddles, but it just wouldn't quit raining. Too bad we don't have any rain coats! :)

Life with LOUD boys!

Here's a funny (to me) story for you. We went to the park yesterday and the boys were romping around on the play equipment. On one of the play sets, there is a "telescope" for peering through. Micah thought it made a great microphone and was hollering into it as loud as he could. The funny part was that there was a little girl about his age also playing on the equipment. When Micah started being excessively noisy, she stopped what she was doing and just stared at him, as if to try and figure out what in the world he was doing. She just couldn't understand why he would want to make that much noise. Of course, as I write this, it doesn't sound very funny. I guess you just had to be there...but all of you out there with boys will understand! :)

The Micah Standard

Micah is most happy if he has some sort of sports ball in hand at all times. It could be a soccer ball, basketball, baseball (of the plastic sort), bouncy ball, etc. You name it, he either has it or WANTS it! And everything round to him is a ball. This past weekend, my parents got the boys a t-ball set. They love it and have enjoyed it immensely, especially Micah! He can spend what seems like an eternity hitting the ball and then putting it back on the tee. Here he is with a play golf club and some plastic balls that he held onto for much of the weekend.

Neighbors

I have to say today that I am blessed to have good neighbors. The boys and I arrived back from a weekend with my parents, which was a blast! One of our neighbors was outside working and wished me a Happy Mother's Day. Later, as the boys were playing outside with the kids from across the street, their mother invited us to have dinner with them. We had already eaten, or we would have taken her up on the offer. However, later, she brought over some lasagna for me to have for lunch the next day. I have to admit, it looked so good that I had to try a bite...and then it tasted so good that I just went ahead and ate it! She apparently trained to be a chef and is quite talented. :)

Puddles!

We have had so much rain. The upside of rain is splashing in the puddles afterwards. And, of course, it brings up the worms and all sorts of other grubs and such. I think Joshua has a dozen roly polys in one cage and a grub in another. :) We headed out first thing the other morning, as soon as it stopped raining, to make the most of the puddles. As you can see, they were still in their jammies!
