More pics on the front steps!

Here are more of the series of pics I took of the boys on the front steps! Aren't they fun? We've had a good couple of days here, and it's finally warming up a bit again. Micah is now in a big boy bed, sharing a room with his awesome big brother, Joshua. More on that later!

Random Pictures

Some random pics...Joshua in the moving truck before we started loading the truck. Then, the boys were being silly in the back yard at the new house...here are some classic funny faces!

Online

Well, we are finally online at the house! Yeah! We didn't realize how dependent we were on it, especially with Neil's job. I'll get some pictures posted this weekend. :)

The boys are doing well and are meeting new friends. There are two "superheros", aka kids that are Joshua's age, that live across the street. We've met them and I'm sure that they will be play buddies. We're also finally starting to connect with some of our friends and acquaintances that live here. Good times are ahead!

Breaking the Silence

We've made it safely to Texas. It hasn't been the smoothest transition, but we're excited to finally be here. I haven't had a chance to blog, mainly because we don't have Internet at the house yet. Soon...as it's not as fun to chase down free wi-fi and I won't have pictures to upload until we get connected at the house. More updates to come, hopefully this weekend. The boys are doing well and seem to be adjusting. This coming weekend they will be moving into a room together, so more adventures are on the way! :) Take care and have a great week!

Transition

For the few of you who read my blog, I haven't been writing because we are in the middle of packing up to move. We're excited about this transition, what it will mean for Neil, and for our family. But that doesn't make the physical act of moving any less difficult. The last time I did this, which has been nearly two years for those of you keeping count :), I only had one child to contend with and keep occupied. With another boy in the mix, life gets much more interesting. Granted, there have been some times where they have actually been content to play together. It's only a matter of time, however, before "mediation" must occur between the two (to put it nicely)!

The boys are handling it all as well as can be expected. Joshua is definitely getting the idea and talks about moving and has been asking about specific toys - to make sure that they are getting packed. He's also starting to internalize that he's saying goodbye to some of his friends. Micah thinks that all of the boxes are pretty cool, but wonders why they are stacking up in his room. :)

We have been very blessed here by the friendships that we have made and I am extremely thankful for our time here. I have more to say about this time in our life, but it will have to wait.

My Happy Boys!

What a joy it is to be with my boys! They are generally very happy boys, except when they are over tired, hungry, or teething! :) Here are a couple of pics taken in the morning a few days ago after we had been chasing balloons and playing!

Unrelated to the pics...the boys love to play with race cars (Hotwheels, etc.). Even Micah has really gotten into it and loves all of Joshua's racing cars and games. This is fun sometimes, and then difficult at others when we have to muddle through sharing issues and the infamous "mine, mine, mine" syndrome! This afternoon was a fun time. We had gotten home from church and it was beautiful outside. So, we ate some lunch and played outside, racing our cars around the driveway! I decided that I'm going to have to find a pink Hotwheels car that will be MINE (ha ha) to play with! I think that the boys should each have a few of their own things that is theirs and which they can choose to share or not. Maybe I can use a race car of my own as an illustration to this point. We'll see! Any suggestions out there?

Balloons

Next to boxes, I can't think of another "toy" that captures the boys time and imagination like balloons! We are still playing with the ones purchased a week ago for Joshua's birthday party!

Joshua's Birthday Present...

...from us was this! "This"is a car launching ramp that attaches to a door, has an "elevator" that takes the car to the top of the doorway, and then a seven foot long track that the car goes down before launching off the ramp and through the ring of fire!! His Daddy picked it out for him...mostly so he could play with it too! :) It has been a hit with all of the my guys! Fun times!

More of the birthday...

Joshua helped decorate his cake. It was even his idea to put the "tread" on the sides of the cake. He told me where he wanted his candles and cars! He is a fun boy to bake with and definitely has his own opinion about how things should be. :) The main event at the party, besides playing and having birthday cake, etc., was decorating these car cakes (if you can tell what it is). Many thanks to Aunt Sarah and Uncle Jeff for giving us the car cake mold pan. It worked out perfect for Joshua's party and the kids AND parents loved it!
